Together intrusion detection tools were developed and commercial firewalls were put to the test. First results were presented at the V6 World Congress in Paris.
The event’s white paper provides details about multi-vendor integration of software-defined networks with Carrier Ethernet, IPv6 and MPLS for the first time worldwide. We saw 1.300 delegates, 400 of them attending our live demonstrations at the MPLS & Ethernet World, V6 World Congress and SDN Summit.
Under EANTC's Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) test program, we verified the scale of Cisco's solution up to 75 Million subscribers. In addition, EANTC tested realistic Voice over LTE (VoLTE) use cases at scale with up to 250,000 transactions/s.
EANTC tested Comverse’s DMM Policy Manager. The mobile policy controller (PCRF) supported up to 31.5 Million subscribers and more than 200,000 transactions/second. EANTC tested Crossbeam’s X80-S firewall solution in a test environment emulating a next generation mobile network. Using Spirent Avalanche, more than one Million active mobile subscribers were emulated generating more than 107 Gbit/s of data throughput. The test demonstrates the Crossbeam Firewall under real-world conditions.
EANTC focused the tests on latest solutions in Clock Synchronization, End-to-end Service Activation and Performance Monitoring, MPLS-TP- and Ethernet-based ring topologies. Vendors presented more than 60 devices in this proof-of-concept study in Amsterdam and Singapore.

Cisco commissioned EANTC to test their MPLS-TP (MPLS Transport Profile) solution. EANTC verified the functionality of new Operations, Administration and Management (OAM) features and measured out of service times during realistic link failure events. The test work included the Cisco 7604, 7606, ASR9006, ASR9010, and CPT600.
EANTC completed another independent Carrier Ethernet Global Interconnect test, conducted across live service provider production networks. The participating Service Providers interconnected their networks through Carrier Ethernet exchanges provided by Equinix.
This year's interoperability tests, showcased on the MPLS & Carrier Ethernet World Congress 2011, focused on interworking of IP/ MPLS and MPLS-TP, Ethernet Ring Protection (ERPS), and a variety of device roles for 1588 clock synchronization. EANTC has also successfully tested 100 Gigabit Ethernet.

This year's results confirm that the Carrier Ethernet implementations of the 24 participating vendors have progressed substantially. Regarding Ethernet OAM performance monitoring, packet-based clock synchronization, protection and Ethernet microwave, we have witnessed a wide range of interoperable, robust implementations.

EANTC, commissioned by Light Reading, staged an independent, public test of Cisco’s complete mobile infrastructure – including mobile backhaul, the network core, and the mobile core with large-scale packet and voice gateways. The first article focuses 12 test areas.
EANTC and ancotel finished the next phase in their test program. Network operators can validate end-to-end Carrier Ethernet services across multiple carriers using External Network-Network Interfaces (ENNI) as specified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). EANTC verified the performance of the packet transport protection mechanisms of Alcatel-Lucent's 1850 Transport Service Switch (TSS). In January 2010, the tests were performed at EANTC's lab in Berlin.
EANTC staged a centralized Global Interconnect test at ancotel‘s carrier hotel in Frankfurt to support test execution and public presentation of the results. The results were highlighted at the Ethernet Wholesale Summit in February 2010 and included live demonstrations via remote test management and HD videoconferencing.

EANTC successfully tested the performance, functionality and capabilities of the new SITLine ETH VLAN encryption device. The test results confirmed that the device is able to encrypt Ethernet traffic without impacting the network performance.
Arista Networks entrusted EANTC recently with testing the performance of Arista’s 7148SX 48-port, 10 GbE switch. The goal of the test was to verify the performance characteristics such as the non-blocking throughput capacity and the low latency of switch.

EANTC recently tested the Advanced RTP Monitoring Solution developed by VOIPFUTURE. The test was set up to verify the vendor’s claim that the Smart RTP Monitoring Probe should be able to analyze VoIP streams in real-time at gigabit Ethernet full line rate, thereby detecting packet loss and IP packet delay variation.

Alcatel-Lucent and EANTC recently performed a design verification test for a major European carrier to emulate performance and operability of the vendor's 7750 SR-7 and 7740 ESS-7 devices under real-life conditions. It was set up to verify the use for aggregation Ethernet Backhauling of Layer 3 VPN services over layer 2 services.
