Ethernet World & SDN Summit Public Multi-Vendor Interoperability Test 2013

Prague, September 30 - October 2, 2013

The European Advanced Networking Test Center together with IIR Telecoms hosted the public multi-vendor Interoperability Test and Showcases. Results were presented at IIR’s Ethernet World 2013 in Prague which was co-located with the SDN Summit.

This year EANTC expanded the focus areas in contexts of cloud service delivery and small cell backhaul. The testing also covered recent MEF standards in CE 2.0 and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) in conjunction with Carrier Ethernet services. The interop's core interoperability test areas were:

  • Packet-based Macro and Small Cell Backhaul
  • Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Transport and Managed Service Life Cycle
  • Cloud Service Delivery
  • Service Provider Transport Use Cases for Software-Defined Networking

The demonstration network presented a vision of a network design that addressed network operators and service providers requirements for the future and existing network services and applications. It showed different access areas including radio access networks, business, residential, and data center access as well as different transport technologies implementing Carrier Ethernet services. EANTC demonstrated use cases for service providers and network operators.

The successful test results were documented in an extensive white paper which was presented at both congresses and is available online.
